November Devlog


I didn’t get nearly as much done as I had hoped, which I kind of knew would happen unfortunately. Worked on a bunch of “game feel” stuff though, such as transition drifts, combo multipliers, and finer control of acceleration. December will be all about finishing the 2 car models I have already started working on, and the 2 new sectors I have already blocked out.

New stuff

  • Added possibility to transition drift.
  • New scoring system with drift multiplier.
  • New combo system.
  • New HUD layout and graphics including tachometer with needle.
  • Added subtle camera shake when speed is high.
  • New post-process shader for VX1000 inspired look.
  • Created new sprites and textures for the first 3 sectors.

Improvements

  • Added curve to acceleration input for finer control over acceleration trigger.
  • Tweaked camera to increase distance from car when drifting in top down view.
  • Added different camera shake effects for different views.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed bug where car would keep drifting even when stopped.
  • Fixed bug where car would have too much grip in manual transmission.
